Fort Chipewyan RCMP: drug seizure leads to charges

Fort Chipewyan, Alberta: On November 20, 2018, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Fort Chipewyan RCMP attended the local airport and intercepted an adult female suspected of bringing in illegal drugs into the community.

As a result of the investigation, RCMP seized 468 grams of Cannabis, 4 grams of suspected heroin and 24 grams of Shatter.

“This seizure is a great example of our crime reduction initiative. Using an intelligence-led policing approach, our members removed drugs from the community,” says Sergeant Cal Barter, Detachment Commander at Fort Chipewyan Detachment.

Lisa Rose Wanderingspirit, a 40-year-old resident of Fort Chipewyan, was arrested and charged with:
• Possession for the purpose of unlawfully distributing
• Possession of controlled substance

Her next court appearance will be in Fort Chipewyan Provincial Court on January 3, 2018.

As this matters is now before the courts, no further information will be provided.
