POLICE INVESTIGATE VEHICLE BREAK-INS / THEFT

At approximately 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a complaint of multiple vehicles being damaged in the underground parking garage located at 9604 Manning Ave in Fort McMurray.  Seven vehicles were found with broken windows and an additional seven vehicles were found to have been rummaged through. It is believed to have occurred sometime overnight. The investigation is ongoing and registered owners of the involved vehicles are being contacted.  A member of Wood Buffalo RCMP Forensic Identification Section attended the scene and conducted further examination.  The total damage is estimated to be in excess of $5,000.00.

A white 2002 GMC Sierra, 4 door, truck with New Brunswick license plates was also stolen from the parking garage and has yet to be recovered.

Police are reminding the public to keep their vehicle doors locked and not to leave any valuables inside. Investigators are also asking assistance from the public in helping to identify those responsible for this crime.
