Found property is a part of everyday policing and it is a priority of the Wood Buffalo RCMP to ensure that these items are returned to their rightful owners.
In some cases, this is a very difficult task to accomplish as certain items cannot be positively identified as belonging to a particular party.
These types of incidents include, but are not limited to, situations where found items are turned in or where during the course of an investigation, property is recovered, but no police report regarding the loss or theft of these items has been filed. Another consideration is that when reports of loss or theft are made, complainants occasionally cannot provide sufficient information on the description or identifiers such as serial numbers.
Disclaimer: Please note that found property is kept for a period of 60 days
Anyone who believes the RCMP may have recovered their property is asked to present themselves, at the Timberlea Detachment during regular business hours. An investigator will then need to make verifications of proof of ownership prior to returning the item in question.
