Traffic Stop Leads To Numerous Charges

On Thursday, May 22, 2014 Wood Buffalo RCMP members conducted a traffic stop in relation to a reported complaint. As a result of the traffic stop, two Fort McMurray men have been charged with several offences.

Brandon Burry (26) and Thomas Shortt (28) were arrested at the scene and 142 grams of marihuana was seized.

Burry has been charged with Possession for the Purpose or Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Failing to Comply with his conditions. Burry has since been released from police custody and is scheduled to attend court on June 10.

Shortt has been charged with Possession for the Purpose or Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, five counts of Failing to Comply with his conditions as well as three charges under the Traffic Safety Act. Shortt is scheduled to appear in court this afternoon.

The Wood Buffalo RCMP continues to make efforts to ensure that our community is safe and remove drugs from our streets.
