Wood Buffalo RCMP: 911 call leads to large drugs seizure

Fort McMurray, Alberta: On November 25th 2018, at approximately 10:30 p.m. the Wood Buffalo RCMP received a 911 complaint at a residence located near Leitner Gate and Lougheed Drive in Fort McMurray.

Members from the General Duty and the Integrated Traffic Units entered the residence and located an adult male who did not appear injured. While clearing the residence, members located a significant amount of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. Members contained the scene and obtained a Search Warrant. Once granted, Wood Buffalo RCMP executed the Search Warrant.

As a result of the search, RCMP seized 57.6 grams of suspected cocaine, 250 ml of suspected liquid GHB and drug paraphernalia.

Abdelqader Ibrahim Kanash, a 19-year-old resident of Fort McMurray, was arrested and charged with:
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2)
• Possession of controlled substance
• Failure to comply with a condition of a recognizance

His next court appearance will be in Fort McMurray Provincial Court on December 11, 2018.

As this matters is now before the courts, no further information will be provided.
