Wood Buffalo RCMP and Integrated Traffic Unit investigate erratic driver

Fort McMurray, Alta. – On June 4, 2019 Wood Buffalo RCMP received numerous complaints of a male driving erratically on Highway 63 towards Highway 881. As police approached, the male sped off but due to public safety RCMP did not pursue the vehicle.

A description of the vehicle was provided and members of Wood Buffalo Integrated Traffic Unit located the male and his vehicle at a truck stop south of Fort McMurray. Police arrested a 26-year-old male from Calgary and charged him with the following offences:

• Driving while impaired
• Driving while impaired over 80mg
• Flight from peace officer
• Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

The name of the driver cannot be released pending the swearing of an Information. He was released on a Promise to Appear and is set to appear in Fort McMurray Provincial Court on July 24, 2019.
