Wood Buffalo RCMP attend call for help in river waters

Fort McMurray, AB – On July 25, 2018 at approximately 5:45 p.m. Wood Buffalo RCMP received a call from a concerned citizen about an unknown male individual who needed help. RCMP were advised the male went into the Clearwater river. RCMP attended and spoke with the man. With currents in the river, he was last seen floating down the Clearwater on his back. Wood Buffalo RCMP Officers, including Police Dog Services, made various types of patrols, on foot, in golf carts, and on boat. The male was soon located on the Athabasca River shore line, and was apprehended by police. Police contacted the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Emergency Services, who attended and transported the individual to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The identity of the male will not be released.
