Wood Buffalo RCMP investigate a shooting incident

Fort McMurray, Alberta: On October 25th, 2018, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a shooting incident in the Timberlea residential area. It is believed the incident took place between 9:00-9:30 p.m., near Diefenbaker Drive and St. Laurent Way in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Preliminary investigation has revealed an adult victim sustained serious injuries as a result of a discharge of a firearm. The victim was then transported to the hospital via EMS.

Wood Buffalo General Investigative Services (GIS) along with the Forensic Identification Unit (FIS) continue to investigate. Police do not believe this was a random act.

It is believed at this time a large SUV maybe involved with this incident.

Police are asking anyone who may have knowledge of this incident, or who may have seen anything unusual in this area, to please contact the Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4040, or your local police. If anyone has any surveillance footage of any suspicious activity recorded, they are being asked to share the video footage with police.
