Wood Buffalo RCMP investigate man’s death

Fort McMurray, Alberta – The Wood Buffalo RCMP are investigating a suspicious death of a man after detachment members responded to a report of a man`s body found on the road. The call to police was received on June 13th, 2018, at approximately 5:40 a.m. The man`s body was located on the access road between Grayling Crescent and Abasand Drive, in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The access road to Abasand was closed for the investigation during the early morning hours until 5:00 p.m. today.

The deceased is an adult male, believed to in his thirties. An autopsy is pending for Friday, June 15, 2018 and will be conducted at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton.

Investigators from the Wood Buffalo RCMP Detachment are being assisted in the investigation by members of the RCMP`s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) out of Edmonton, Alberta. Police do not believe this was a random act.

Police are asking anyone who may have knowledge of this incident, or who may have seen anything unusual, to contact the Wood Buffalo RCMP Detachment at 780-788-4040. If anyone has any surveillance footage of any suspicious activity recorded today between midnight and 5:40 a.m. they are being asked to share the video footage with police.
