Wood Buffalo RCMP Investigate Robbery – Update 2

Wood Buffalo RCMP: On May 16, 2018, at approximately 8:00p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to report of a male brandishing a knife at a business on Franklin Avenue near Father Mercredi Street, in the downtown area of Fort McMurray. An undisclosed amount of Canadian currency was taken from the business, and the male suspect left on foot. No one was injured during this incident.

The male suspect was identified as Jean-Andre Noel. On May 20th, 2018, Wood Buffalo RCMP arrested Jean-Andre Noel.

Jean-Andre Noel, a 27 year-old male, of Caraquet, New Brunswick, is facing the following charges:

  • Armed Robbery, Section 344 of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Disguise with Intent, Section 351(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Section 88(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 3 x Fail to Comply with a Regognizance, Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada

Jean Noel is being held in police custody awaiting a judicial hearing.

The Wood Buffalo RCMP would like to thank the members of this community for their assistance in solving crimes in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

May 18, 2018

Wood Buffalo RCMP: On May 16, 2018, at approximately 8:00p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a robbery at a business on Franklin Avenue near Father Mercredi Street, in the downtown area of Fort McMurray. Additional photos of the suspect have been released and are being shared with the media. Police are requesting public assistance to help identify the male suspect involved in the robbery.

The investigation continues in relation to this incident. Anyone who witnessed this incident, or has video surveillance, is asked to call the Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4040.

The police would like to thank the public for their assistance in solving crimes in the Wood Buffalo region.

 

 


May 17, 2018

Wood Buffalo RCMP: On May 16, 2018, at approximately 8:00p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a robbery at a business on Franklin Avenue near Father Mercredi Street, in the downtown area of Fort McMurray. An undisclosed amount of Canadian currency was taken from the business. The male left on foot, and was reported to have headed north. RCMP set up scene containment, a police dog assisted in a search of the area, and Forensic Identification attended to examine the scene. No one was injured during this incident. The suspect has not yet been located and the RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance.

The suspect is described as:

  • Male
  • Approximately 6’ tall
  • Slim build.

The suspect was wearing:

  • A white bandana over his face
  • Blue jeans
  • Sweatshirt with Hood

The investigation continues in relation to this incident.
