Wood Buffalo RCMP Investigate Threats Against Local School – Update 2

Fort McMurray, Alberta – RCMP investigation has determined there is no imminent threat to Father Patrick Mercredi Community High School. The RCMP is investigation is ongoing.

If anyone would like to come forward and provide information about this incident, please call the Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4040, or call your local police. If any students or staff members were affected by this incident, services are available within the Fort McMurray Catholic School District, and with Victim Services at 780-788-4250.

Wood Buffalo RCMP Investigate Threats Against Local School – Update 1

Fort McMurray, Alberta – Graffiti on a washroom wall was left with a threat against Father Patrick Mercredi Community High School. There was an increased RCMP presence at the school, and surveillance footage assisted in narrowing down alleged suspects. Father Mercredi High School has suspended the involved suspects pending the results of the continued investigation. The RCMP is continuing the investigation and will be conducting further interviews.

The RCMP and Fort McMurray Catholic School District take threats against schools very seriously and have taken steps to ensure the safety of the students and staff of Father Mercredi.  The RCMP is mandated to enhance public safety, which includes investigating and prosecuting those who commit acts such as this, ensuring citizens feel welcome and safe in their community.

Wood Buffalo RCMP Investigate Threats Against Local School

Fort McMurray, Alberta – On March 26, 2018, at approximately 2:50 p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP received a report of a threat made against Father Patrick Mercredi Community High School. Through cooperation with the Fort McMurray Catholic School District, RCMP are investigating this matter seriously in relation to the threat. The RCMP and Catholic School District take threats against schools very seriously and have taken steps to ensure the safety of the students and staff of Father Mercredi.

The RCMP take these offenses very seriously and are continuing the investigation. The RCMP is mandated to enhance public safety, which includes investigating and prosecuting those who commit acts such as this, ensuring citizens feel welcome and safe in their community.
