Wood Buffalo RCMP locate overdue male snowmobiler

Fort McMurray, Alta. – A 48-year-old male was reported missing on Dec. 18, 2018. He was last seen at approximately 5:00 p.m., on Dec. 15, 2018, after he told a friend he was leaving on a snowmobiling trip. It was believed he was near the Clearwater River northeast of Fort McMurray before his disappearance. Wood Buffalo RCMP along with RCMP Air Services, Regional Emergency Services (RES) and Search and Rescue Fort McMurray (SAR) were mobilized during search efforts.

Tragically, the male was located deceased today.

Our thoughts and sympathies go out to the family, friends, and all of the people who have been impacted by this tragedy. The name of the deceased will not be released.
