Wood Buffalo, Alberta – Wood Buffalo RCMP would like to advise residents on December 18, 2017 at approximately 1:30 p.m. David Junior McClure was seen by police, and when they attempted to approach and arrest McClure, he fled on foot. A police foot pursuit ensued, and ended at a residence on Berens Place, in the Timberlea area of Fort McMurray, Alberta.
RCMP officers secured the immediate area, and set up a secondary perimeter in the nearby Timberlea area. These additional safety measures were in place to ensure the safety of the public while police were dealing with the arrest of McClure. Pedestrian and vehicular traffic were temporarily rerouted.
After some negotiating with the RCMP, McClure surrendered and was subsequently rearrested. Additional charges are pending. David Junior McClure is being held in custody for a hearing.
