Wood Buffalo RCMP seek assistance in identifying a suspect possibly involved in two robberies

Fort McMurray, Alberta – On December 11, 2018, at approximately 7:00 a.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a robbery at a business on Franklin Avenue near Father Mercredi Street in the downtown area of Fort McMurray. The suspect entered the store, brandished a knife, and demanded money. An undisclosed amount of Canadian currency was taken from the business. The male left on foot on Franklin Avenue.

The suspect is described as:
· Caucasian male
· Approximately 5’8”
· 200lbs
· Dark hair
· Round face
· Square chin

The suspect was wearing:
· Grey toque with pom-pom on top
· Black jacket
· Blue jeans
· Black shoes some white on them
· Bright green under garment

Later on that day, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to another robbery at different business in the same area of the downtown Fort McMurray. The suspect entered the store brandished a knife and demanded money. Suspect’s physical description matched the first robbery.

The suspect was wearing:
· Black hoodie
· Black flat shoes
· Dark pants
· Bright green under garment

No one was injured during these incidents.

RCMP is investigating the matter and are asking anyone who may have knowledge of this incident, or who may have seen anything unusual, to please contact the Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4040, or your local police. If anyone has any surveillance footage of any suspicious activity recorded, they are being asked to share the video footage with police.
