Vehicle Stop Results In Drug Charges

On November 21st, 2015 just after 7:00 pm the Wood Buffalo RCMP Municipal Traffic Unit conducted a traffic stop in the Timberlea area of Fort McMurray that resulted in the initiation of a drug investigation. During the course of the investigation 56 grams of Cannabis was seized as well as two edged weapons. Two occupants of the vehicle, a 17 year old male and a 23 year old male, are facing numerous CDSA charges pertaining to Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking as well as Criminal Code charges for weapons, Proceeds of Crime and a TSA charge of having an obstructed licence plate.

Subsequent to the traffic stop a nearby residence became involved in the investigation and RCMP obtained a warrant to search and 78 grams of Cannabis was found and seized. Three additional adults from the residence are now facing CDSA charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking as a result. All were scheduled to make their first court appearance on Tuesday November 24th, in Fort McMurray.
