Fort McMurray, Alberta

Wood Buffalo RCMP continues the search for the missing person who is believed to be a male who was last seen entering the Athabasca River on Friday November 13th, 2015. Over the weekend Wood Buffalo RCMP deployed five officers, including the Police Dog Service unit to aid in the search. Twelve search and rescue (SARS) volunteers and one helicopter from Phoenix continued the search for the missing male. The helicopter was the most effective search tool, as the icy conditions of the river did not allow the use of boats. Volunteers and RCMP conducted extensive searches of the shoreline along the Athabasca River; unfortunately the man was not located during the rescue effort. Wood Buffalo RCMP continues to search.
