Wood Buffalo, Alta: Wood Buffalo RCMP are hoping you will participate in #WearRedFriday, a social media campaign encouraging Canadians to wear red this Friday April 24th to pay tribute to fallen member Cst. Heidi Stevenson and the other victims of the tragic Nova Scotia shooting. The National Police Federation is encouraging Canadians across the country to participate. In support of this tribute, we are encouraging people across the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo to wear red tomorrow.

Red Fridays began as a movement by the military to support troops in Afghanistan, and was later adopted to honour fallen Mounties after the 2014 Moncton shooting. As you know, the colour red also has special meaning for the RCMP – the colour of our Red Serge.

When you post images, please ensure the person (or people) depicted give consent for these photographs to be posted publically on social media (Twitter: @RCMPAlberta; Facebook: @RCMPinAlberta). Please ensure to conduct yourself professionally and be security conscious when using social media. A friendly reminder that the use of RCMP corporate signature and crest are for official accounts only. Contact your local RCMP if you have any questions.

Wood Buffalo RCMP would like to thank our residents for their participation and support in this tribute.
