Fort McMurray, Alta. – On December 10, 2019, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Wood Buffalo Crime Reduction Unit attempted to conduct a traffic stop with a vehicle. The vehicle fled from police and shortly after came to a stop, the occupants of the vehicle fled on foot. Police were able to recover the vehicle which was confirmed to be stolen as well as a large volume of stolen items.
With the assistance of the Police Dog Service, the two individuals were located, arrested and brought before a Judicial Justice of the Peace for bail hearing.
Cody Richard Stephen (40) of Edmonton, and Teryl Lisa Burk (31) of Fort McMurray, have been charged with numerous charges including:
• possession of property obtained by crime
• break & enter
• obstruct/resist peace officer
• possess a controlled substance
• failing to comply
