Wood Buffalo RCMP seek assistance in identifying a suspect – Update 1

Fort McMurray, Alberta: Wood Buffalo RCMP would like to thank the public for their support and assistance in sharing and providing information to police. This investigation progressed and the suspect male has been identified and arrested.

Dennis Delroy Smith, a 52-year-old male from Crysler Ontario is facing the following charge:

• Assault, Section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada

Mr. Smith has been released from police custody. His next court date is schedule for September 5th 2018 at the Fort McMurray Provincial Courthouse.

As this matters is now before the courts, no further information will be provided.


July 24, 2018

Fort McMurray, Alberta: On July 8th, 2018, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to an assault at a local business located on Fraser Avenue near King Street in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Police are requesting public assistance to help identify the alleged male suspect involved in the assault. Photographs are being shared by police to help identify this individual.

The male suspect is described as:
• Black
• Bald
• Brown eyes
• Clean shaven
• Age unknown

The male suspect was last seen wearing:
• Black frame glasses
• Dark shirt with a Nike logo
