Wood Buffalo RCMP seek public assistance in identifying suspect of two robberies

Fort McMurray, Alta. – On the evening of February 28, 2020, Wood Buffalo RCMP were dispatched to two armed robberies near the intersection of Morrison Street and Franklin Avenue in downtown Fort McMurray. It is believed the same suspect was responsible for both incidents and police are asking for public assistance in identifying the suspect.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., the suspect entered a business and attempted an armed robbery. At approximately 5:50 p.m., the suspect entered a different business and several items were stolen.

The male suspect is described as:
• 5’7” to 5’10”
• Medium build
• Dark skinned
• In his 20’s or 30’s
• The suspect was wearing a dark jacket/hoodie and carrying a Sobey’s reusable grocery bag
